The West African Power Industry convention (WAPIC) a flagship, regional conference highlighting the dynamic energy landscape of the region commenced the exhibition leg of its activities on Wednesday, 23rd November 2016 at the expo hall, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos with the Theme First Efficiency Then Added Capacity: Optimizing Process Reducing Consumption and Generating Off-Grid.
The 13th edition of WAPIC 2016 conference and exhibition has in attendance 12 speakers and 46 exhibitors with over 1000 visitors expected to attend over the duration of the event.
Day one of the conference themed Energy Efficiency; Measure it to manage it, featured a power and energy professionals as speakers including Dada Ayodeji; Energy Conservation Manager, Nigerian Bottling Company, Hannah Kabir; Renewables consultant, Creeds Energy, Olakunle Owoeye; National Consultant Expert; Energy management system, GFA Consulting Group, Chimaobi Daniel Nna; Research Officer, energy Commission of Nigeria.
The speakers emphasized the importance of reducing power consumption, managing power and conserving energy stressing the need to adopt the use of alternative sources of energy like Solar Energy and the importance of efficient energy usage.
Mr Fola Dada, one of the organizers of the event explained the purpose of the convention stating its goal is to create networking opportunities for power industrialists to showcase their products, services and solutions to issues related to the power sector and power generation.
Global information and telecommunication giant Huawei returned as the exclusive diamond sponsor for the event for the third time. Lucy Electric, a global secondary distribution leader in the electricity sector, is a platinum sponsor and Kedco a gold sponsor.
WAPIC is organised by Spintelligent, leading Cape Town-based trade exhibition and conference organiser, and the African office of Clarion Events Ltd, based in the UK.
