Professionals in the construction industry in Nigeria chart the way forward to stop construction projects delay, so as to curb the problem of abandoned projects in the country. The event was the third partner’s forum held in Lagos.

In his welcome address Engr. Dideolu Falobi managing director Kresta Laurel limited, said “The partners forum is an interaction between our partners in Nigeria being our clients, consultants, developers, financiers and others on one hand, and our international partners being representatives of KONE Elevators, Finland, DEMAG Cranes and Hoist Germany, Coxgomyl of United Arab Emirates UAE and Malkesan UPS of Turkey and the others”

This year’s partners’ forum being the third in the series unlike the previous editions was embedded with a colloquium and the topic discussed was “Delays on project delivery in the construction industry: Causes and solutions”, featured who is who in the construction industry in Nigeria.

The colloquium moderated by Engr. Adeola, past president of ACEN; had Mr. Yemi Ejidiran, managing director WEMABOD Estates limited; Engr. Charles Akindayomi, president of ACEN; QS. Shonubi M. Olayemi, Vice-President of Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS); Bldr. Kunle Awobodu, First Vice-President of the Nigerian Institution of Building (NIOB) as discussants.

The forum which also incorporated the presentation of the book titled “Principles and Practice of Projects Management” written by Engr. Adeola, according to Engr. Falobi, “The presentation of the book written by one of Nigeria’s foremost engineers”, and to him the book is a reference material in the relevant field of construction and engineering and consulting. He further said “The event in addition provided stakeholders in the industry the opportunity interface directly with the equipment manufacturers of the lifts, cranes, elevators and escalators across the world, who is partners with Kresta Laurel since inception of the company twenty-nine years ago”.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion include; , Pastor Tunde Bakare, General Overseer of Later Rain Assembly; Chairman of Kresta Laurel Limited, Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel and his amiable wife Yeye Mrs. Olufunke Daniel; Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu, President of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE); Hon. Hakeem Dickson, Director General, Lagos state Safety Commission; Arc. Mrs. Olubukunola Ejiwumi, Past President Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA); Engr. Mrs. Funmilade Akingbagbohun, Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Ikeja Branch; Engr. Dr. Charles Mbelede Chairman Melcom M Nigeria Limited

Some foreign partners represented at the forum include; Mr. Douglas Pye, Managing Director, Distribution Business KONE (Middle East); Mr. Jared Knight Managing Director CoxGomyl UK; Sir. David Jones representative of KONE; also in attendance is Engr. Briand Greensway Managing Director Kresta Laurel Construction.

In a brief chat with some of the foreign partners Mr. Douglas Pye told the CED Magazine team that KONE is over 100 years and has a broad global coverage in the field of elevators and escalators business. We are present in close to 140 countries across the world and its products is moving over 150 people every day” “urbanization and changing demographics are currently the key megatrends driving the growth of KONE brands in Africa”

 In terms of innovative ideas KONE according to Mr. Pye is widely known and its brands remains ranked among the best in the world, as it is an award winning brand, according to Mr. Pye.

Mr. Adreas Voss, the representative of DEMAG Hoist; said “safety is key in our business and our products is committed to performance having being around since 1819, for 200years and still counting”. “DEMAG products is reliable, durable, less weight and operation easier with the use of remote control systems”.

Mr. Adreas also said that, because most of their products are industrial and factory use based; training of customers on how to operate the cranes which have the capacity to lift up to 400 tons of weight is essential to avoid accident on site. Mr. Adreas said “DEMAG crane comes in different types; single and double girds crane, and that with DEMAG crane everything is possible”.

Another Kresta Laurel partner company that had a unique products presentation at the forum is the CoxGomyl. According to the company’s representative Mr. Jared Knight in his presentation said the company specializes in building access and maintenance skyscrapers. He showed the audience some of the wonderful projects’ skyscrapers jobs done across the world such as ‘the tallest building in the world, ‘the Burj Khalifa in Dubai UAE, amongst other notable buildings across the world.

The high point of the presentations session saw the managing director of Kresta Laurel Limited Engr. Dideolu Falobi, sharing Kresta Laurel’s as the only elevator company in Nigeria with ISO certifications”. “The core value of the company is quality products, integrity innovations and service excellence”

According to Engr. Falobi, Kresta Laurel as a company does not play with its key components of operations which includes; human capacity development, stocking of spare parts, high quality workmanship, competitive pricing etc.”

He added that at Kresta Laurel Limited “Keeping the earned trust of our numerous clients by continuously developing our numerous resources, technology and quality system towards achieving excellence in services delivery while optimizing stakeholders’ interest.”
