The Lagos State Government on Monday approved the extension of the reconstruction of Airport Road to the Ladipo market end of the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.
It said the state would construct a pedestrian bridge at Toyota bus stop, adding that such was in response to the yearnings of traders and residents of the area.
The state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, stated this during the inspection of ongoing projects across the state, noting that the extension would complement the Airport Road in line with the regeneration of the Oshodi area.
He also said, “There is no point working on the Airport Road if we don’t extend the construction to Ladipo market area. I want to rehabilitate the road and turn it to a modern road.
“The contractor will commence work on the road and the pedestrian bridge at Toyota bus stop next week,” the governor said.
Ambode, who also inspected ongoing construction of roads around Ladipo market, called on traders to leave the road to enable the contractor to complete the projects.
“The only reason why the contract will not be completed on schedule is that some traders still trade on the road which is a huge hindrance , but if the road is vacated completely we will finish it in three months,” he said.
The Vice-President of the market, Mr. Jude Nwankwo, assured Ambode that the traders would cooperate with the government.
