Governor of Abia State Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has assured the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency Chief Sam Onuigbo of the partnership of his administration to ensure the realization of the Elemaga/Itunta bridge reconstruction project in Ibere, Ikwuano Local Government Area.
The project was embarked upon by the lawmaker to ameliorate the sufferings of his people.
Governor Ikpeazu disclosed this during the official flagging-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge held in Ibere.
The governor, who was represented by his executive assistant Elder John Nwagborogwu noted that the importance of Ibere and Ikwuano as a cocoa belt, in the actualization of the overall agricultural policy and development of the state and Nigeria cannot be over emphasized.
Ikpeazu lauded Chief Sam Onuigbo for taking it up to execute such a gigantic project for the benefit of the people and urged the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency to continue to support their son and leader to do more.
In her remarks, the Chairman, Ikwuano Local Government Area Ezinne Ngozi Orji said their representative Chief Sam Onuigbo had indeed demonstrated that charity begins at home, pointing out that the people were grateful to him for the numerous projects he has executed in the communnity.
Responding, Chief Sam Onuigbo said he was disturbed by the serious economic and social problems that the bridge had created for his people since its collapse in 2009 and thanked God for putting him a position to relieve the people of the pains.
