The International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), Nigeria Chapter, has revealed plans to focus on developing the economy and the country’s infrastructure at its New Year dinner.
The FIABCI New Year dinner, which is in its third edition, is an annual event through which the association focuses on the economy and brings all the factors that enhance real estate development into focus.
The President, FIABCI Nigeria, Joseph Akhigbe, said the forthcoming annual dinner would provoke thoughts on both the economy and infrastructure development.
“FIABCI is the most representative organisation of the real estate industry in the world and holds special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations,” he stated.
The association’s Public Relations Officer, Gbenga Ismail, explained in a statement that the annual dinner, which holds on Thursday in Lagos, as was the practice, would bring together acclaimed speakers to discuss the issues and proffer solutions.
“This year, we will be dining with Bode Agusto, a renowned finance consultant and founder of Agusto & Co., who is also the current chair of the Lagos Economic Advisory Council,” he said.
According to Ismail, the theme for this year’s event is: ‘Infrastructure financing in a challenging economy’.
He said without infrastructure, there would be no meaningful development, adding that the annual dinner was not an event for speeches but a convivial atmosphere for exchange of ideas and planning for the year.
He added that the event would also feature presentation of achievement awards aimed at recognising projects and people all over the world that best embodied excellence in all the real estate disciplines involved in the association’s creation.
“The awards illustrate concretely the FIABCI ideal of providing society with the optimal solution to its property needs. This year, the Real Estate Excellence Awards will honour players in the recognised components that deliver world class real estate projects,” he added.
